Amrita Rao entered the world of modeling quite by chance, when she auditioned for an advertising film for Fairever Face Cream. She was selected for the film, and since then appeared in a number of television spots for several products.
Amrita Rao made her cinematic debut in the 2002 film Ab Ke Baras, but gained recognition only after the success of her 2003 film, Ishq Vishk, in which her portrayal as Payal earned her the girl-next door image. Success followed for her in 2004 films like Masti and MaiHoonNa. However her following releases Deewaar (2004), Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi (2005), Shikhar (2005), and Pyare Mohan (2006) did poorly at the box office. Her most recent release, Vivah opposite Shahid Kapoor was a universal success despite its outdated theme. Her performance was well appreciated from critics, Next, she is doing Athidhi with Telugu movie star Mahesh Babu.
Bollywood actress Amrita Rao today said that she isn't in love with actor Shahid Kapoor. "We aren't in love as it appears in media reports," she told reporters on the sidelines of a function here. "I sometimes read news that Shahid and I are in love but it is not so," she said.
Rao said she and Shahid together in a film were liked by the movie buffs on the big screen. She said it was their privilege that people come to see them together on the screen and for this they often see our movies. "I am not in love with anyone," she remarked. The actress said she doesn't want to be confined to a particular role and wants to play different roles. "I want to do something in the movies for which the people remember me for a long," she said.
